Bodrum Express Lines has been selling Greek-island crossings since 1984, from the years when Bodrum first became an international resort. Its office is on Barış Meydanı in the old bazaar quarter, and it covers Kos, Rhodes, Leros, Patmos, Symi and Kalymnos from Bodrum, plus departures from Çeşme, Fethiye, Ayvalık, Kuşadası, Seferihisar, Dikili and Kaş.

Who actually carries you

Worth checking before you book: the company's own fare tables name the operating carrier for each sailing, and it is usually someone else. On the Bodrum–Kos run the boats belong to Dentur (Dedetaş-2, Gönül) and Tilos Travel (Sea Star Kos); on Fethiye–Rhodes they are Tilos Travel's Sea Star Diagoras and Sea Star Mykonos, and İDO's Fethiye; the Bodrum–Leros service runs on İDO's Karadeniz. Bodrum Express Lines describes itself as running scheduled Bodrum departures since 1984 and also operates a ship agency for yachts and vessels calling at the port — but on today's timetables it is primarily the ticketing and agency layer over other companies' boats.

Fares

Prices follow the vessel rather than the route. On the Bodrum and Turgutreis crossings to Kos an adult single is around €25 (€35 same-day return, €40 open return, children about €20). Bodrum–Leros from Turgutreis D-Marin to Lakki is €55 single and €85 open return; Fethiye–Rhodes is also €55 single, €75 same-day return and €85 open. Infants are €5–€20 depending on the boat. Vehicle space is never sold online — you telephone for it.

Visa on arrival: what the company files for you

Turkish nationals need a Schengen visa for Greece, but Greece runs a seasonal visa-on-arrival scheme in the Dodecanese, and this is one of the agencies that files the applications — for Kos and Leros. The requirements are exacting, and worth reading before you commit to dates:

• Passport valid at least six months, with two facing blank visa pages, and no Northern Cyprus entry stamp.
• Anyone previously refused a Schengen visa cannot apply through this route.
• Bank statements for the last three months showing a minimum of €450 per person, with the signing officer's authenticated signature.
• Confirmed hotel booking in English, with payment receipt, naming every traveller — and the nights must match: a seven-night booking reads as eight days and is rejected.
• Return ferry ticket — only tickets bought from this company are accepted — plus travel insurance in English covering the full stay.
• Three biometric photos taken within six months, without glasses, unglued. Forms are completed electronically in Latin capitals; stapling the passport copy is forbidden.
• Kos has its own form and is the exception on signatures: the application is left unsigned and signed on arrival in front of a Greek police officer. Other islands are signed in advance.
• Single-parent consent documents and papers for unaccompanied minors must be entirely in English — Turkish documents are refused.

Practical notes

Most sailings on these lines are marked no car. All are international, so allow time for police control at both ends — on the half-hour Kos hop the formalities routinely take longer than the crossing.
