Fjord1 ASA Schedules 2026

Fjord1 is one of Norway's largest ferry operators, running car ferries across five counties — Vestland, Møre og Romsdal, Rogaland, Trøndelag and Nordland. Its crossings are numbered road links rather than named lines: route 1068 Hareid–Sulesund, 1045 Lavik–Oppedal, 1039 Måløy–Oldeide, 201108 Drag–Kjøpsvik and dozens more.

Årsvågen – Mortavika

The busiest crossing listed here carries the E39 highway across the Boknafjord between Stavanger and Haugesund. The ferry takes about 24 minutes and runs roughly every 20 minutes through the day in each direction — over a hundred sailings daily — because it is not a scenic detour but the main road south from Bergen. Queues build at peak times and around holidays; the crossing itself is short enough that most drivers stay near their vehicle.

How Fjord1 fits into the Norwegian system

Like other Norwegian operators, Fjord1 sails most of its routes under contract to a regional transport authority — its own service notices are signed "Fjord1 on behalf of Skyss" for the Vestland crossings. Timetables and fares for those routes therefore belong to the authority, not to Fjord1. Contracts also change hands: Fjord1 takes over the Lavik–Oppedal crossing from 1 September 2026, with the outgoing operator responsible until that date.

Some low-traffic crossings run on demand. When Måløy ferry quay closes for works, for example, the car ferry between Husevågøy and Oldeide must be ordered by phone at least one hour before departure. If a route looks unusually sparse in the timetable, check whether it is a booked service.

The ferry code

Fjord1 publishes ten ferjevettreglar — ferry etiquette rules. Most are common sense, but three surprise first-time drivers:

• Switch off the engine and set the handbrake or park mode for the crossing.
• Turn off your car's exterior lights. They shine into the bridge and dazzle the navigator.
• Disable the car alarm. A vehicle alarm going off in a steel car deck is loud enough to hurt, and it frightens children and animals.

The rest: follow crew instructions, take care on deck (it gets slippery in rain and ice), hold the handrail on stairs, no phone at the wheel and no child on your lap, keep small children and pets supervised — pets leashed or crated — and use the onboard waste bins rather than throwing anything overboard.
