Ensamar runs the boat to Asinara, an island off north-west Sardinia that is now a national park and was, for most of the twentieth century, closed to the public. There is one crossing, it runs six times a day each way, and it takes 75 minutes.

An island you cannot simply drive onto

Porto Torres to Porto di Asinara departs six times between 08:15 and 16:30, with the return running 09:45 to 18:00. Asinara is a protected area with controlled access rather than an ordinary island destination, so the boat is not merely the convenient way in — it is the way in, and the last departure at 18:00 is a hard deadline rather than a suggestion.

Six out, six back, and they interleave

Look at the two lists together and the pattern is a shuttle: each outbound sailing is followed by a return about ninety minutes later. That gives a visitor a set of fixed windows on the island rather than a free choice of how long to stay. Picking the departure effectively picks your return, which is worth working out before you buy.

Not every sailing runs every day

Most departures run daily, but a further group carries a restricted day mask covering only part of the week. On a route with six sailings and a fixed last boat, losing one to the day of the week materially changes the plan — check the specific date rather than the route.

The service appears under Sardinia’s regional mobility platform rather than on a standalone shipping site, which tells you how it is treated: as public transport to a protected area, planned alongside the island’s buses, rather than as an excursion product. Asinara sits close to the Sardinian coast, yet the crossing takes an hour and a quarter. The route runs around the island’s protected waters rather than straight across, and that is normal for a national park approach. Do not plan on the basis of the distance.
