About the Iž – Rava crossing
The hop from Iž to Rava is one of the shortest island-to-island legs in the Zadar archipelago. There is no dedicated Iž–Rava boat; instead you ride onward on a Zadar-originating Jadrolinija line that calls at Iž and then continues to Rava. Two options serve the pair, and which one you take decides whether you can bring a car.
The catamaran leg
Jadrolinija's fast catamaran line 9405 runs Zadar – Mali Iž – Veli Iž – Mala Rava – Rava. It is a foot-passenger service only; cars are not carried. From Veli Iž or Mali Iž the crossing to Mala Rava and Rava is only a matter of minutes, since the two islands are separated by the narrow Iški kanal (roughly 2.5 km wide). The full Zadar-to-Rava run takes about 1 hour 5 minutes, so the Iž–Rava portion is a brief tail end of that journey.
The car ferry leg
If you need to move a vehicle, the classic Jadrolinija car ferry line 435 sails Zadar – Bršanj (Iž) – Rava – Mala Rava aboard the small M/B Sis, and it does take cars. On this service you board at the Bršanj ramp on Iž rather than at Veli Iž village pier.
What to expect on Rava
- Rava is a tiny, deeply peaceful island between Iž and Dugi otok, with two little harbours: Rava and Mala Rava.
- Facilities are minimal, so bring what you need for the day.
- Both islands are lightly served, and there are more sailings in summer than in the low season.
Because both boats start in Zadar and thread through several stops, always confirm the exact departure and whether it is the catamaran or the car ferry before travelling.
Vehicles, pets & onboard
- Motor ships & fast craft
- Islander resident fares
- Online tickets
- Bike & pet carriage
Onboard facilities and vehicle, pet and luggage policies vary by operator and vessel; confirm details with the operator before booking.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a direct ferry from Iž to Rava?
There is no boat dedicated solely to the Iž–Rava crossing. You travel on a Jadrolinija line that starts in Zadar, calls at Iž, and then continues to Rava. In practice you board at Iž and stay on for the short leg to Mala Rava and Rava.
Can I take a car from Iž to Rava?
Only on the car ferry. Jadrolinija line 435 (Zadar – Bršanj (Iž) – Rava – Mala Rava) carries vehicles. The fast catamaran line 9405 is foot-passenger only and does not take cars.
How long does the Iž to Rava crossing take?
It is very short, usually only a matter of minutes, because Iž and Rava are separated by the narrow Iški channel of about 2.5 km. The full Zadar-to-Rava catamaran run is around 1 hour 5 minutes, of which the Iž–Rava part is just the final stretch.
Which ports are used on Iž and Rava?
The catamaran calls at Mali Iž and Veli Iž on Iž, then Mala Rava and Rava on Rava. The car ferry uses the Bršanj ramp on Iž and also calls at Rava and Mala Rava.
How often do boats run between Iž and Rava?
Sailings are limited and seasonal. There are more departures in the summer high season than in the low season, typically a couple of times a day rather than hourly. Always check the current Jadrolinija timetable before you travel.
How much does a ticket cost?
Ticket prices vary by operator, season and whether you bring a vehicle. Check the operator (G&V Line Iadera) for current fares.

Does the ferry run all year?

What's the luggage allowance?
