Tseung Kwan O South is the New Territories end of the crossing to Shau Kei Wan on Hong Kong Island, 18 sailings from 09:30 to 18:45, twenty minutes each way, operated by Yun Lee Marine Holdings. Tseung Kwan O is a new town built on reclaimed land in a former bay, home to several hundred thousand people, and the ferry is a minor alternative to the MTR line that carries most of them. It exists mainly for the waterfront districts furthest from the stations, where the boat is genuinely quicker than the walk-plus-train combination. The waterfront promenade beside the pier runs several kilometres along the bay and is the reason much of the weekend traffic on this route exists.
