Ferries from Spjotsodd brygge

Spjotsodd's two calls are 6.4 and 10.9 nautical miles: Fjågesund at 40 minutes, Lårdal at 70. Seven sailings a week on each leg, at 09:20, 10:30, 15:10 and 15:50.

Both legs run on open lake water, which is why the times are proportional to the distance here — on the lock sections of this canal they are not.

The pier is on Kviteseidvatn, part of the chain of lakes the canal threads together between Skien and Dalen. Boats have called at landings like this one since the waterway opened: the canal was built for timber and freight, but the passenger service began almost immediately, and the same route has been sailed every summer since the 1890s apart from the war years.
