Ferries from Sauøya kai

Sauøya's near neighbour is 2.6 nautical miles away and its far one is 12. Sørburøy takes 10 to 15 minutes, Halten 40 to 50, with three sailings a week on the short leg and two or three on the long.

Departures run from 10:45 to 21:20, and the whole service ends on 23 August.

These are the Froan islands, a scatter of low skerries in the Frohavet north-east of Frøya, protected as a nature reserve and landscape conservation area since 1979 for their seal colonies and seabirds. A handful of people still live out here. The boat that links them runs a summer round through the group; in winter the sea between these islands is not a place for a small vessel on a fixed schedule.
