Ferries from Sainte-Maxime

In August the road around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez becomes one long queue, and the 20 minute crossing from Sainte-Maxime is the reason the boats exist. Les Bateaux Verts runs 55 departures a week and 56 arrivals, from midnight through to 23:30.

Two day patterns cover the week — a daily calendar and a Monday-to-Saturday overlay — so Sunday sailings are drawn from the daily sheet alone.

Sainte-Maxime faces Saint-Tropez directly across the gulf, close enough to see the bell tower from the quay, but the drive between them runs the long way round the head of the bay through Port Grimaud and Cogolin. The boat covers in twenty minutes what the road can take an hour or more to do in season, which is why the landing sits at the centre of the seafront rather than tucked away in a working harbour.
