Ferries from Rottnest Island

Rottnest Express provides services from Rottnest Island to two terminals in the Perth metropolitan area. The port sits on Thomson Bay, just off the coast of Western Australia. A total of six domestic ferry routes connect the island to the mainland. Rottnest Fast Ferries also runs services from here.

Rottnest Island Ferry Routes

Passengers can travel from the island to three mainland departure points. The shortest crossing is to Fremantle, with others connecting to Hillarys Boat Harbour and Perth's Barrack Street Jetty. The journey to Barrack Street Jetty travels up the Swan River, making it the longest of the available routes.

Both Rottnest Express and Rottnest Fast Ferries operate from terminals on the mainland. All services arriving and departing the island use the main ferry jetty in Thomson Bay. These routes are for foot passengers only.
