Marta sits at Dorsoduro's western end beside Venice's commercial port, so this is a commuter link rather than part of the sightseeing network. Piazzale Roma itself is where every road journey into Venice stops: buses from Mestre and the airport terminate here, and everything beyond it moves by water or on foot. The square is also where the airport buses terminate, so this pontoon sees luggage traffic arriving from Marco Polo that has to change to water transport to go any further.
