Ferries from Øysang ferjekai

Twenty sailings a week cross the two nautical miles to Risør, each taking 25 minutes. Departures from Øysang run 07:45 to 14:50, with the returns from the town side at 08:20 and 15:30.

The morning weighting is deliberate: the first boat is before eight and the last leaves in mid-afternoon. This is a service for getting into Risør and back, not for evenings out in it.

The vessel is the MF Øisang, named for the crossing it works, and the timetable runs into the summer of next year — a year-round route rather than a seasonal one. Øysang is on the mainland shore east of Risør, cut off from the town by the sound that gives the ferry its purpose; the road round adds a considerable detour to a distance you can see across.
