Three minutes to Steilene, five to Fjellstrand: Ommen's two connections are among the shortest scheduled crossings anywhere on the Oslofjord. Ten sailings a week on each, from 10:24 to 18:00.
Both legs run on three day patterns — 20 movements a week in all — and neither has an evening service. Once the six o'clock boat has gone, the island is finished for the day, and the whole season closes on 4 October.
Ommen is a small holm in the group off Nesodden, close enough to its neighbours that the boat is alongside almost as soon as it has left the last pier. What justifies a scheduled call at a place this small is the summer population: cabins that have been in the same families for generations, on islands where the alternative to the ferry is your own boat and there is no third option.
