Nordskot hurtigbåtkai is a small express-boat quay in Steigen, on the outer coast of Nordland north of Bodø. It is a passenger-only stop, no cars, served by the fast catamaran on the Bodø-Steigen corridor that Boreal operates as the NEX 2, the route running Bodø-Helnessund-Nordskot-Bogøy-Skutvik and on to Skrova and Svolvær on selected Friday and Sunday sailings.

From Bodø the crossing to Nordskot takes roughly an hour and a half, with the boat also linking the neighbouring Steigen quays of Helnessund, Bogøy and Holkestad. This makes the express boat the quick, weather-exposed alternative to the long road drive around the fjords, and for many islanders it is the practical way in and out. Departures are sparse, typically a handful a day, so the timetable rewards planning; check live times before you commit, as sailings shift with the season and can be affected by rough water on this open stretch of coast.

What draws visitors to Nordskot far out of proportion to its size is what lies above it. The little harbour is the launch point for Nordskottraversen, an exposed knife-edge ridge traverse often billed as Northern Norway's answer to Besseggen. Beginning with a climb of Sørskottind, the route follows a narrow crest five to fifteen metres wide, with a short rappel and a few rope-secured passages, opening onto sweeping views over the archipelago toward Lofoten. The classic Nordskot viewpoint has become a fixture of Instagram feeds and hiking blogs.

The village is also the jumping-off point for the Manshausen island retreat nearby. Facilities at the quay are minimal, so bring provisions and warm layers, and remember that the traverse is a serious mountain undertaking best attempted in settled summer conditions with the right gear and experience.
