Ferries from Lunde sluse

Lunde sits between two locks and the distances are tiny: Kjeldal is 1.2 nautical miles away at 20 to 25 minutes, Vrangfoss 3.5 miles at 40 to 50. Seven sailings a week on each leg.

Departures are at 12:00, 12:45, 13:00 and 13:20 — four movements inside 80 minutes, which is what happens when several lock stations sit within a few kilometres of each other.

The village grew around the canal itself: the lock, the keeper's house and the boatyard came first and the settlement followed. Norsjø, the lake below, and Flåvatn above are joined here by a stretch of cut channel through farmland — the only part of the route where the waterway is genuinely artificial rather than a natural lake linked by locks.
