Lindøya vest is the western landing on Lindøya, the largest of the small islands scattered across Oslo's inner fjord and one of the capital's best-loved summer escapes. The island carries roughly 300 recreation cabins and a strong community feel, so this quay is used almost entirely by day-trippers, swimmers and cabin owners rather than commuters — there are no cars on Lindøya, and no vehicle deck on the boats. Everyone arrives on foot with a bag, a bike or a cool box.

The crossing is run by Ruter as part of Oslo's public-transport network, using the small green passenger boats known locally as the øybåtene (island boats). Departures leave from central Oslo at Aker Brygge / Rådhusbrygge 4, right behind the City Hall, so a normal Ruter ticket or travel pass covers the trip — there is no separate tourist fare. The routes work as a loop through the archipelago, and Lindøya has two stops: Lindøya øst (east) and Lindøya vest (west). Choosing the correct quay matters, because they sit on opposite sides of the island and the boat calls at them at different points on the circuit.

Seasonality is the thing to plan around. Through the summer sailing season the loop — calling at Hovedøya, Lindøya, Gressholmen, Bleikøya and Nakkholmen — runs frequently, with a boat roughly every 15 to 20 minutes across a long day, so hopping between islands is genuinely easy. Outside the warm months service thins out sharply, and some island stops drop to a bare-bones schedule aimed at cabin owners rather than sightseers. Crossings are short, typically well under half an hour from the city, and the ride itself past the fortress island of Hovedøya is part of the appeal. Bring what you need: Lindøya has swimming spots and cabin lanes but limited services, so check the current Ruter timetable for the exact vest departures before you set out, especially for the last boat back to the city.
