About
About Kasos
Kasos is the last Greek island before Crete, small, dry and thinly populated, with five sailings between 16:30 and 22:45 linking it to Karpathos in 75 minutes and to Sitia on Crete in about two hours. Blue Star Ferries works both. The late departure times reflect the island's position on a long-haul route rather than a local shuttle — boats reach here in the second half of the day. Kasos had a substantial merchant fleet in the nineteenth century and lost most of its population afterwards; what remains is a handful of villages and one of the quietest harbours in the Dodecanese. The Sitia connection matters: it is the only regular link between the Dodecanese and eastern Crete, and it runs through Kasos rather than around it.
