Ferries from Halten kai

Halten is the outermost call on this route and the sailings show it: Sauøya is 12 nautical miles away at 40 to 50 minutes, Sørburøy 14.3 miles at 40, with two or three sailings a week and a single 22:35 departure on the longer leg.

The season ends on 23 August. After that the island has no scheduled connection at all.

Halten is a fishing station on a bare skerry far out in the Frohavet, once the base for hundreds of fishermen during the winter cod season, with its own lighthouse from 1875 and a settlement that was continuously inhabited into the twentieth century. It is now a preserved cultural site rather than a village — the boat serves visitors and the people maintaining the buildings, which is why the timetable stops when the summer does.
