Ferries from Fornebu

The Aker brygge crossing takes 11 minutes out and 14 back over the same 3.1 nautical miles; Vollen is 6.8 miles at a flat 23. Six sailings a week on each leg, first departure 09:00, last 19:01.

This is the shortest season on the fjord — the record ends on 30 August, more than a month before the island routes further south stop.

Fornebu was Oslo's international airport until 1998, and the peninsula has been rebuilt since as offices and housing for tens of thousands of people, with a metro line still under construction. The boat to Aker brygge is a commuter service in everything but frequency: eleven minutes across the bay against a bus ride round it, which is why the route exists at all on a shore that has no shortage of roads.
