About
About Fjellstrand
Fjellstrand is the mainland end for three island crossings: Søndre Langåra at 2.8 nautical miles and eight minutes, Steilene at 1.4 miles and also eight, Ommen at 0.6 miles and five.
Ten sailings a week on the Langåra leg and nine to Steilene, running from 10:28 in the morning to 19:14 at night. Two of the three legs take the same eight minutes despite one being twice as far — the shorter crossing has more calls in it.
Fjellstrand is on the western shore of the Nesodden peninsula, which reaches north into the fjord and is served by its own commuter boat to Oslo from the far end. This summer route is a different animal: it works across the fjord to the islands rather than up it to the city, and it stops for the winter in early October.
