About Filtvet
Filtvet connects both sides of the fjord: Drøbak 5.3 nautical miles north-east at 16 minutes, Son 3.6 miles south-east at 15. Nine sailings a week on each, between 11:36 and 17:56.
Two day patterns cover them and the times pair up neatly — the boat crosses to Son, comes back, then runs up to Drøbak, so a passenger here can reach either shore within the same afternoon.
The village is at the southern tip of the Hurum peninsula, where the fjord widens past the Drøbak narrows, and its lighthouse has stood since 1867. What makes the pier useful is geography: Hurum is a long finger of land between two fjord arms, and everywhere on the far side is a considerable drive away — the water is the short cut it has always been.
