About
About Central Pier No. 8 (Western Berth)
Pier 8's western berth handles the Hung Hom crossing, 36 sailings from 07:30 to 19:20 on a run of about sixteen minutes, linking the Central waterfront directly to the Kowloon side east of Tsim Sha Tsui. It is shorter, quieter and far less frequent than the Star Ferry two piers along, and it shuts down in the early evening. The building above the berth houses the Hong Kong Maritime Museum, which occupies the pier structure itself — one of the few ferry terminals anywhere that doubles as a museum. This is not a route to turn up for without checking the day's times. Hung Hom on the far side is a main rail interchange, which makes this crossing a direct link from the Central waterfront to the East Rail line without going through Tsim Sha Tsui.
