About

About Andros

Andros is the first call on the Rafina line, and one departure here does double duty: the 09:40 is entered twice, once for Tinos at 85 minutes and once for Mykonos at 130, because it is a single sailing counting two stops down the chain.

Rafina has two departures, at 10:15 daily and 15:50 on weekdays only — a second mainland departure that Saturday and Sunday do not get. Inbound from Rafina, 07:30 and 17:30 run every day. Fast Ferries works the whole line with two vessels, Fast Ferries Andros and Theologos P.

The island is the northernmost of the large Cyclades and the wettest, with streams that run in summer when most of the archipelago is dry — the reason for its walled terraces and footpaths. Its nineteenth-century shipowners built the neoclassical houses in Chora, which is a different kind of wealth from the tourism that reaches the islands further south.
