About TS Laevad
TS Laevad operates the two busiest ferry crossings in Estonia — the big-island lifelines linking the mainland with Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. A subsidiary of the state-owned Port of Tallinn, it took over the routes in 2016 and books its sailings through the praamid.ee system.
To Saaremaa and Hiiumaa
Its ferries run Virtsu–Kuivastu, the 25-minute crossing to Muhu and on to Saaremaa, and Rohuküla–Heltermaa, the longer hop to Hiiumaa. Together these carry over two million passengers and a million vehicles a year, at intervals as tight as every half hour in summer.
Fleet and fares
Four purpose-built ferries — Piret, Tõll, Leiger and Tiiu, each taking around 700 passengers and 150 cars — work the routes, with Regula in reserve; Tõll was fitted with batteries in 2019 as Estonia's first hybrid passenger ferry. Fares are in euros with reduced rates for island residents, and TS Laevad won a new tender to run the routes through 2033.
