Tokyo Kyushu Ferry (東京九州フェリー) runs one of Japan's longest domestic ferry routes, a fast overnight-plus crossing between the Tokyo area and Kyushu. Launched in 2021 as part of the SHK Line group — sister to Shin Nihonkai and Hankyu Ferry — it links the Kanto region directly to northern Kyushu by sea.
Yokosuka to Kitakyushu
Its single route connects Yokosuka near Tokyo with Shinmoji in Kitakyushu, a crossing of about 21 hours run six days a week. Sailing overnight and through the following day, it lets drivers and freight avoid the very long road journey between Honshu and Kyushu.
Fleet and onboard
Two purpose-built sister ferries, the Hamayuu and the Soleil, each around 15,400 gross tons, work the route at a service speed of about 28 knots — among the fastest ferries in Japan. Onboard there are public baths, a restaurant, open-air decks and a forward salon. Fares are in Japanese yen across tiered cabin classes, booked online.
