About

About Sun Ferry

Sun Ferry (新渡輪) is Hong Kong's principal outlying-island ferry operator — the lifeline linking Central with Cheung Chau and Lantau. It is the direct successor to the historic Hongkong & Yaumati Ferry (founded 1923): the routes passed to New World First Ferry in 2000, and after Chu Kong Shipping acquired the business in 2020 it was renamed Sun Ferry Services Company Limited in 2021.

To the outlying islands

Its busiest lines run from Central to Cheung Chau and to Mui Wo on Lantau, in both ordinary and fast-ferry sailings, plus Central–Peng Chau and the Inter-Islands circular (Peng Chau–Mui Wo–Chi Ma Wan–Cheung Chau). It also runs the inner-harbour crossings from North Point to Hung Hom and Kowloon City, and a seasonal Tin Hau Festival sailing to Joss House Bay.

Fleet and fares

The fleet mixes big double- and triple-deck ferries with high-speed catamarans. Fares are in Hong Kong dollars, paid by Octopus or cash, split into ordinary and fast-ferry tiers with concessions for seniors, children and people with disabilities and monthly commuter tickets.
