About
About Porto Santo Line
Porto Santo Line operates the ferry between the two inhabited islands of the Madeira archipelago in Portugal. Part of the Grupo Sousa shipping group, it has run the Funchal–Porto Santo sea link since 1996 and is the only regular connection between the islands.
Funchal to Porto Santo
Its single route links Funchal on Madeira with Porto Santo, the archipelago's "golden island", famous for its nine-kilometre beach. The ferry carries cars, passengers and cargo, and is heavily marketed for same-day round-trip "day cruises" as well as island-hopping breaks.
Ship and fares
The route is worked by the Lobo Marinho, a 112-metre ferry in service since 2003, carrying over 1,100 passengers with a solarium, cinema, children's play area and restaurant. Fares are in euros (one-way from around €47), with day-cruise packages and a social mobility subsidy for Madeira residents.
