About
About Peng Chau Kaito
Peng Chau Kaito runs the small inter-island ferries that stitch together the north-eastern corner of the Lantau archipelago — the boats locals simply call the kaito. Where the fast Central catamarans serve commuters, these little ferries are how island-hoppers move between the outlying islands themselves.
Between Peng Chau, Discovery Bay and Mui Wo
From the Nim Shue Wan pier on the edge of Discovery Bay, the kaito crosses to the laid-back island of Peng Chau in about ten minutes, and runs down the coast to Mui Wo, gateway to Lantau's beaches, the Trappist Monastery and the trail network. For walkers the route is a gift: sail out to one island, hike, and catch the kaito back from another. Sailings are limited and weekend-weighted, so the return time is worth checking before you set off.
