About

About Movia

Movia is not a shipping company. It is the public transport authority for Zealand, Lolland and Falster, and it puts services out to tender on behalf of the municipalities and the Capital and Zealand regions rather than running vehicles itself. In its own words, bus and Flextrafik services are «udbydes til private operatører og vognmænd» — tendered out to private operators and hauliers.

Thirteen contractors, none of them maritime

Movia publishes the list of companies holding its contracts: Anchersen-Fladså, Bustrafikken.dk, ColumBus Hillerød, DitoBus Linjetrafik, GoCollective, Keolis Danmark, Keolis København, MJA Næstved, Nobina, Strøby Turist, Tide Bus Danmark, Umove and Vikingbus Danmark. All thirteen are bus companies. The tender conditions set the vehicle standards, the operating requirements and how quality is measured — Movia defines the service, someone else delivers it.

Where that leaves the harbour buses

The waterborne services filed here carry Movia's line numbers 991 and 992 and thread Copenhagen Harbour between Refshaleøen and Teglholmen. Movia's own website has no section on them: the harbour buses appear nowhere in its published pages, and no maritime contractor appears on its operator list. The authority sets the route and the timetable; who crews the boats is a contract it does not publish alongside the bus ones.

The network as scheduled

Twenty port pairs and roughly 1,400 departures, most legs running 3 to 17 minutes. The calls read like a list of the city's waterfront: Nyhavn, the Opera House, the Royal Library, Nordre Toldbod, Knippelsbro, Bryggebroen, Islands Brygge Syd, Enghave Brygge, with the northern end at Orientkaj. Departures run from midnight through to 23.55 — urban transit that happens to float rather than a sightseeing service.

Reading the timetable

The current schedule covers 27 July to 21 October 2026. Across the two lines there are fourteen distinct weekly day-patterns: some legs run seven days, others weekdays only, others weekends only. Frequency here varies by day of the week rather than by season, which is what a commuter service looks like when it is written down.
