About
About Miyazaki Car Ferry
Miyazaki Car Ferry (宮崎カーフェリー) runs the overnight long-distance ferry between the Kyushu city of Miyazaki and Kobe in Japan, connecting the south-east of Kyushu with the Kansai region. Relaunched in 2018 as a public-private venture backed by Miyazaki Prefecture and local banks, it revived a sea link dating back to 1971.
Miyazaki to Kobe
Its single route sails nightly in both directions between Miyazaki Port and the Kobe Sannomiya ferry terminal, a "night cruise" leaving around sunset and arriving at sunrise. The ferry carries cars, trucks and foot passengers, sparing drivers a very long road-and-bridge journey between Kyushu and Honshu.
Fleet and fares
Two brand-new sister ships entered service in 2022: the Ferry Takachiho and the Ferry Rokko, each around 14,000 gross tons and carrying some 576 passengers along with trucks and cars. Cabins range from private staterooms to shared rooms; fares are in Japanese yen and booked online, with a dedicated reservation option for overseas visitors.
