Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry — HKKF — serves Lamma Island and Peng Chau from Central: Central–Yung Shue Wan and Central–Sok Kwu Wan for Lamma's two villages, Central–Peng Chau, and the short Peng Chau–Hei Ling Chau link.

The company publishes a live service board with estimated arrival times and estimated seat availability — a genuinely unusual thing to show, and useful on a commuter route where a full boat means waiting for the next one. The company is candid about its limits: the data degrades where network coverage is poor, and real arrival depends on weather, sea state and harbour traffic.

Fares and subsidies

The government's $2 concession scheme was restructured — the flat two-dollar fare became a discounted-fare arrangement — and the company also handles registration for the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme. Monthly passes, an improved multi-trip ticket, student monthly passes and a school-travel concession all run alongside single fares. As on other Hong Kong ferries, a ticket is valid only for the sailing it was issued for. Pets and cargo have their own fares and carriage rules.

The islands it serves

Lamma is Hong Kong's third largest island at 13.47 km², with under ten thousand residents and a notably high proportion of non-local ones. Peng Chau is 1 km², about 5,000 people, 8 km from Hong Kong Island — and has the lowest crime rate of any island in the territory.
