About Canby Ferry
Canby Ferry is a small county-run cable ferry across the Willamette River in Oregon, United States — one of only three surviving vehicle ferries on the river, in service since 1914. It is operated by Clackamas County as part of the public road network.
Across the Willamette at Canby
The ferry crosses from Canby to the north bank near Wilsonville, a three-to-five-minute trip guided across the river by an underwater cable and powered by overhead electric lines. It runs on demand rather than a fixed schedule, seven days a week.
A working antique
The current vessel, the electric M.J. Lee II (1997), carries up to six vehicles and around forty passengers, moving several hundred vehicles a day. Tolls are in US dollars, paid by cash, check or punch pass; service closes at high water when the river reaches flood level.
