Brakar Schedules 2026

Brakar is the public transport authority for the Buskerud area of eastern Norway, running buses and boats and selling the tickets that cover them.

Norway's shortest ferry crossing

The Svelvik–Verket link across the Drammensfjord takes five minutes — the company calls it Norges korteste fergetur, the country's shortest ferry trip. Brakar took over the service on 1 January 2022; the vessel is operated on its behalf by Torghatten Sør.

The ferry is electric, and carries 30 cars — or three articulated lorries of 19.5 metres — with room for 99 passengers and 60 seats in a heated indoor saloon. You cannot reserve a place, but sailings are frequent enough that it rarely matters. You may stay in your car during the crossing if you prefer.

One thing that delays it

When a large vessel under pilotage passes through the Svelviksundet, the ferry must wait for it to clear. That is the only routine cause of delay on a five-minute crossing.

Accessibility, designed in

The ferry was built to universal design standards in cooperation with the Norwegian Association of Disabled and the Norwegian Association of the Blind. All passenger facilities sit on one deck with no stairs or lift, two parking spaces are reserved for disabled passengers, and there is an accessible toilet.

Cash on the bus, sales outlets, or the Brakar, Entur and Vy apps. Since November 2025 Brakar has been piloting Fairtiq for a year: you swipe in when you board and out when you leave, and the app calculates the correct fare from the distance travelled. Enquiries on 177.
