Bornholm sits in the Baltic closer to Sweden than to the rest of Denmark, and Bornholmslinjen's timetable reflects that geography exactly: the fastest way home to Copenhagen is through Sweden.

Three routes, three very different journeys

Rønne–Ystad is the main artery — 80 minutes by fast ferry, first sailing at 06.30 on weekdays, up to four departures each way daily. In high season (June to September) an extra fast ferry raises that to eight each way.

Rønne–Køge goes direct to Zealand without crossing Sweden, but takes 5 hours 30 minutes and runs once a day in each direction. Rønne–Sassnitz, to Germany, is 3 hours 20 minutes, with a second daily sailing added on summer weekends and in holiday periods.

Counting everything, there are up to sixteen daily departures from Ystad plus six more via Køge or Sassnitz.

Tickets you can change until you sail

Every ticket on the fast ferries can be changed right up to departure — unusual, and worth knowing on a route where weather and connections shift plans. If you have not booked at all, PayZapp reads your number plate at the gate and lets you drive straight aboard.

On board

The ships include Express 5, which carries a barista coffee shop, and Hammershus. An onboard shopping catalogue is published in advance so you can see the range before sailing. Check-in times differ by route and vehicle — the company publishes them separately rather than using one rule.
