Akgünler Denizcilik is the leading ferry operator linking Northern Cyprus with mainland Turkey. The maritime arm of a Turkish Cypriot tourism group trading since 1978, it launched its ferry operations around 1999–2000 and calls itself the largest passenger- and cargo-carrying line in the TRNC.
Kyrenia to Turkey
Its flagship crossing runs from Girne (Kyrenia) to Taşucu near Silifke on the Turkish coast, a passenger and car service of about two and a half hours by fast ferry; a fast passenger craft also links Anamur to Girne. A separate ro-ro cargo line connects Gazimağusa (Famagusta) with Mersin.
Fleet and fares
The fleet of around six vessels spans fast passenger sea-buses, fast car ferries such as Grand Master and Flying Anka, and ro-ro cargo ships, carrying both holidaymakers and heavy freight.
